The Lagos State Government has ordered the resumption of nursery schools, kindergarten and other classes that are yet to resume in the state.

The state government said classes yet to resume due to COVID 19 protocols in both public and private schools should resume on October 19, 2020.

The Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo made the announcement in a statement made available to journalists on Monday.

According to her, the physical resumption which is for 2020/2021 academic session will now include pupils in pre-primary, which is daycare, kindergarten and nursery schools.

She maintained that the decision on the resumption followed a thorough consultation with relevant stakeholders including safety professionals and nursery school providers.

Adefisayo, however, advised all public and private schools to put safety first by adhering to the COVID-19 safety protocols and hygiene guidelines as instructed by the state government through the Ministry of Education.

According to her, “The Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA) will continue to monitor and evaluate schools preparedness. The necessary resumption protocols must be adhered to and cleared “satisfactory” by the OEQA.”

Meanwhile, management of schools have been warned not to move against the given measures on prevention of COVID19.
