The Prosecutor, John Iberedem had earlier told the court that the suspect committed the offence sometime in June 18 between the hours of 10:00pm and 11:30pm.
Iberedem said that the incident happened at St Francis catholic Secondary School located at Idimu Road, Ikotun-Lagos.
The prosecutor alleged that the suspect, who is a house master in the school, sexually assaulted the boy.
The court did not take the plea of Ogunbiyi.
The Chief Magistrate at Ikeja Magistrates’ Court E. Kubeinje ordered that Ogunbiyi be remanded at the facility pending advice from the state Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP.
He said that the offence contravenes the provisions of Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Section 261 prescribes life imprisonment for such offense.
Kubeinje, however, adjourned the case until July 24, for mention.
It is a tragic and terrifying situation when someone who is supposed to protect a child in school instead becomes a perpetrator of evil against them.
This betrayal of trust can have long-lasting and devastating effects on the child’s physical, emotional, and psychological well-being.
It is important for society to take such cases seriously, hold the perpetrators accountable for their actions, and provide support and resources for the victims to heal and recover from the trauma they have experienced.
