FG approve mother tongue to teach Primary Pupils

The Federal Government has on Wednesday approved National Language Policy that makes it compulsory to teach pupils from primary one to six in their mother tongue.

The approval was disclosed by the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu at the end of the Federal Executive Councul, FEC, meeting presided over by President Muhamnadu Buhari, at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Mallam Adamu, explained that pupils in primary one to six would be thought in their mother tongue; local language and other Nigerian languages of their interests as well as other foreign languages.
